As quiet is as quiet gets, footfalls could be heard against the cool grass now that nightfall had given chance to let the warm air rise. Padded paws with their claws trotted toward the structure just not too far ahead. The black figure moved within the shadows at all times, ears alert and nose identifying scents. At the faint glow of light from the moon before the figure could enter the shelter now, you could tell that this figure was a four-legged furry animal. A dog perhaps? No, wolf.
A rather kind, compassionate, and curious wolf at that. Though her ears were strained, curiosity covered half the side of alertness she might have had before entering the shelter. Her nose concluded that this place had not been touched in quite a while. The scents were of old leather, straw, and still a slight musk from previous glorious years of horses. Quite the homey place in her opinion. She was not one to hunt horses at all. She ate the human food and rarely did she ever hunt. But enough, time to snoop.
As her black figure moved towards the middle of the shelter, she picked up faint Vira traces, but they were long gone. Could she be perhaps one of the few werewolves left? Not a very comforting thought, but rather she did not dwell on it. Finding a rather decent-looking stall, she entered and found a blanket in the back corner. Carefully moving towards it, she sniffed it. Nothing seemed to be on the cloth that didn't belong to a barn. Letting out a breath, she plopped down on the blanket. She figured in her wolf-form, it would keep her warm throughout the night and her more acute ears and nose would pick up any danger faster than her human form could ever do. Though, gently she rested her head on her paws, ready to dose a bit since she did not find any major disturbances in the city tonight. And besides, this place hadn't been touched in years, perhaps nothing would happen during the six or so hours before day.

. A . z . r . a . e . l . Is it still me that makes you sweat?
I knew I wasn't supposed to be here. The place reeked of werewolves. But I just couldn't help myself. For some reason, I wanted to be here. I wanted to see what kind of trouble this might get me in and how well I would be able to get out of said trouble. I suppose you could blame it on my one experience with what I assumed was a werewolf. I mean, I had been devastated when she had taken off, but there was nothing I could do about it now. But in the end, maybe I just had a certain attachment to the other species.
Yes, I had killed the one who had taken my one true love from me. We had been together since children. She had been the one to take me in. And together, we had taken care of each other. But upon finding her with who ever in the hell it was that I had killed for her, I just couldn't stand to see it. I couldn't just stand there and watch it before my very own eyes and not do a god damn thing about it. Granted, the way I had handled it may not have been the best, but the way she had revealed her true self to me had not been the best choice of acts either.
I sighed and stepped into the dust filled barn. The place was huge and stalls lined every wall and wherever else possible. Hay laid scattered everywhere as if something had gotten into it. And with the werewolves that came up here, I didn't doubt it one bit that that was what had gotten into all of this stuff. I took a few steps in and sniffed the air discreetly. The strong, fresh scent of a werewolf caressed my nostrils as I took another step in. It was one like her. The four legged ones. The ones of old lore. I took another step in, pinpointing its exact location but refusing to step in and meet it fully.

K a y l a ----------------------------Breath. Auburn-tinted brown eyes flew open, the black form going rigid as her heart began to pick up its pace since being in a rested state. Her ears heard the faintest of noise that would signal another presence while her nose scented the air. Scent. She was not alone anymore. A pouting whine at that fact passed through her, but she had stopped it. That is, until it mixed with the fact that this presence did not smell like Vira or werewolf. Then a small whine escaped from her as it all sunk in. Bad move. She could not stop the higher-pitched noise until too late. They would have already heard it by now.
Her body lay still as her ears caught the sound of taken steps. Ok, so yes, she was a bit scared and a bit nervous. Why she did not growl yet, she did not know. Growling now at herself for being a coward, she picked herself up from off the blanket. A mental laugh crossed through her thoughts at how strange the whine and then the muted growl would have sounded like to a stranger. Carefully, she backed herself into a corner. Her rump pushed against the back board of the stall, her side against the side wall, creating a small barrier, but even so it made her feel a bit safer. Nevertheless, she felt a bit degraded too.
She was being cautious the best she could because she did not know what she was up against, but she probably had a label going on as ‘coward’ right about now. If it were occurring when she was trying to help someone though, then that might be a different story. But that was not the case. She hunkered low to the floor of the stall, her body still pressed against the two walls. A faint growl emitted from her dark form as her eyes narrowed toward the entrance of the stall. Maybe some false bravado would help for now as if saying ‘well, I’m here and I know you are, show yourself’. [/blockquote]

. A . z . r . a . e . l . Am I Who You Think About In Bed?
My keen ears picked up on a small sound. Something whiny and little. Pathetic sounding really. I took another small step into the barn. Werewolves were not my cup of tea. Then again, I wasn't really a tea drinker. Not anymore anyway. Why did I feel it necessary to keep moving further? Why did I want to see who exactly this was? But the whine seemed so innocent in a way. Most vampires didn't like werewolves. Most vampires hated them with a passion. But I wasn't really sure why.
Just as I thought all I would hear were whines, a growl erupted through the air. I took a small step back, straightening my posture and raising an eyebrow in confusion. What was going on? First, whimpers, next snarls. Whoever this was was very confusing.
I had no reason to go after whoever this was.
"Come out."
My voice was quiet enough. Normal volume. I knew I didn't need to yell for it to hear me. They had advanced hearing like we did. I knew whoever it was who was now hiding from me would be able to hear me. I sighed softly and took another step forward again.
"Whoever you are, just come out."

K a y l a ---------------------------- The twin black ears twitched as the sound of more steps reached them. Then those ears were graced with the quiet voice of a male. Her body still did not move. Thinking yes, her earlier whimpers and then growls probably did sound weird as she finally stopped. However, it was kind of a bit of natural curiosity when his voice registered and defined it as male. The black mass shifted, it’s moving causing the hay to shuffle.
His voice hit her ears yet again. A small smile crossed through her mind. Perhaps curiosity was in the air. Her inner persona chuckled as the black mass shook the strands of straw out of its pelt. Should she change back to her human form or remain in her wolf form? She would be more prepared if she stayed in her current form. Thoughts churned around, figuring out ways to go through with this. A small, playful, yip crossed through as she made her way closer to this male.
She wanted to sound friendly this time since false bravado seemed to have not worked and scared the male away. Stopping a bit before the entrance to the stall, she re-assured herself before slowly stepping out and positioning herself in front of him. His appearance was certainly an interesting one. Then again, so was her black fur and strands of straw sticking to it probably. Trying to show that she meant no hostility (thinking that he figured out already that the growling was false bravado), she wagged her tail, ears up and alert, eyes keen. Well hello there. she thought as another small yip crossed out in greeting.

. A . z . r . a . e . l . When The Lights Are Dim And Your Hands Are Shaking
I listened to any movements from the creature as quietly as possible, but I also knew that this thing would have as good of senses as I. My scrawny looking arms slowly crossed over my chest, covering the name of whatever band tee I had worn today. I had lost track long ago.
My blueish gray eyes moved carefully across the room. No more growls, but no one was showing themselves. I scanned across everything again until the mass of black fur struck my attention with a baseball bat. Metaphorically speaking of course.
She looked familiar...but I had seen plenty of werewolves...even slept with one and taken care of one once. I thought about taking a step out of the hay infested area, but instead, I stood there, taking in the sight of her wagging tail, her erected ears, and her eyes that watched me ever so carefully.
Her...
Her...
Female it seemed...smaller of stature than male Viras...
Her...
I held my ground. I knew I wasn't supposed to be here. This was werewolf territory, or so they had claimed it after chasing the previous owner away in fright. I didn't take a step forward. I didn't take a step back. I just stood there, sweeping up every detail I could and holding on to it for future reference if need be.
"I'm sorry to have bothered you."
I figured an apology was in order. I didn't know what she had been doing before I had arrived. Whether it had been sleeping, or hiding from something else, I didn't know.

K a y l a ----------------------------His appearance like mentioned before was interesting. His hair for example. A small wolfish grin appeared at the thought of how her hair was probably sticking up some too with the straw in it. He seemed lithe enough and rather scrawny. Eyes never really left him as her nose and mind coordinated smell with picture. He was wearing a band tee, but his arms covered up the name. Darn. She was wondering what it might have said. Question is though, did he even listen to that band anyway or was the shirt just a shirt for wear? Oh well, she was more so questioning his appearance when she should be questioning why he was here?
He did not move, but rather seemed to be studying her. It made her feel slightly self conscious, her fur only bristling slightly as her posture slumped under his analyzing gaze. She was a rather shy creature when meeting strangers. Unless they were there to harm her and making threats, then she was scared, but brutally prepared to fight back or even flee if need be. Her wondering thoughts stopped again as he spoke again. He was sorry? Her eyes gazed into his and she tilted her head. Huh? He had bothered her? Well she was sleeping before hand, but hey… she was the one acting like a puppy here and actually decided to come out and see him.
Deciding she needed to at least say or do something rather than standing there, she was a bit hesitant before stepping towards him slowly, tail down. She stretched out her black muzzle toward his arms indicating to his hands, nudging him with her nose. Sure she had placed that he was a vampire, but with being around humans a lot, she scented that he was half human too. Others might think she should be repulsed by him, but she was not. She had no reason to hate him at all. He had not hurt or made a threat to her despite her growling earlier. One of her guesses for her action to indicate he could touch/pet her was probably a way to say thanks for not attacking. Hopefully he would not see her action of one of hostility. Some short whines escaped as she was almost begging for him to touch her, surprising herself and her ears twitched at the sound.

. A . z . r . a . e . l . As You're Sliding Off Your Dress
I wasn't really sure why I was still here. Or even why I had come here to begin with...There was no reason for me to be here. There was no reason for me to be communicating with a werewolf. But...she seemed friendly enough.
She grew closer to me...and I considered stepping back. I knew Viras weren't as violent as Zeevas...but...I couldn't take any chances. But as I took a small step back, I hadn't even gotten the other foot pulled back before she had released a small whine that tore at my dead heart strings. Those tattered strings had to have been connected to the corners of my mouth with the way the corners tugged up into a sympathetic smile. Small, but still visible...
I couldn't help it when she motioned to my hand. And with only a little hesitation, my slender fingers reached out and gently touched the top of her cranium, moving carefully across her black fur to the llittle region next to her ear. Her whines tugged at me some more.
"Why don't you come out of that hiding place?"
My voice smoothly flowed out, speaking about the fact that she was still in her fur.
"I bet you're prettier without them."
Damn...that came out wrong...She could either take it two ways...I wanted to see her naked...Bad...Or as a compliment...good...Or that I thought her fur was ugly...wrong...Ok...three ways...Oh no...

K a y l a ----------------------------His step back reached the delicate black ears as they twitched towards the sound. The whine came and went when the smile appeared on his face, making her tail wag and eyes light up. Slowly, she reached up into his touch a bit impatient. At the first bump up her head made into his hand, she froze before pushing her head against it, encouraging him. Though slightly noticeable, at the same time she had taken one step forward to make up for the one that he had stepped back.
Heaven! Her ears were a sensitive spot on her body, in wolf form and in human form. She had not been ‘petted’ in a while and it did feel good. Again she had surprised herself in thinking something like this in reference to what a vampire –though half human- was interacting with her. Startled at all these thoughts, she stepped back, unsure and uncertain. She wanted so badly to ‘cuddle’ with him. She had not seen nor felt another person yet that would approach her and not run away in so long. She could picture him sitting or laying down, her in wolf form curled around him, sharing her soft warmth.
Stop! She had to yell at herself, thoughts like these were not welcome when there were total strangers. Then get to know him, a separate voice whispered into her mind as some would call it her conscience. Her step back had caused her head to be taken away from his touch as she looked toward the ground and away from him. Help… her body posture and mind were radiating uncertainty. Though his voice reached her ears and they moved towards the sound, eyes only traveling to him when he spoke a second time.
She had started to ponder about this. Should she change into her human form? Even if she did, she would probably not have much to say, she wouldn’t be able to speak. Perhaps it is better said that she would be to shy. Debating this preoccupied her, probably at a time where she should have been paying attention. But however, she had picked a decision and moved towards the stall again, not glancing back at him to see if he would follow. Carefully, she kept her back to the entrance of the stall and began changing back to her form without her black fur. Once back, she gasped and grabbed the blanket she had earlier been laying on, trying her best to cover herself up quickly. Her hands shook as her heart picked up, nervousness settling in. She sat facing the other wall away from the entrance, her eyes closed and chin resting on her crossed arms over her knees, a slight chill settling in as goose flesh appeared on her arms, nervousness causing the affects. A z r a e l Then think of what you did
She seemed desperate for my touch. Just for my head to brush against her fur. She stepped up to make the difference in my step back. The top of her head pushed into my palm. She seemed to hesitate before brushing her head across my hand a little more confidently. She hesitated again.
I had evidently made her nervous...or she had decided that the vampire werewolf aspect of this whole meeting was not too good. I had loved a werewolf once.
And I had killed her lover.
Which in turn, had killed me.
She looked away from me, and it was tempting to step forward and comfort her fears. But I knew I shouldn't do such a thing. I shouldn't lead on a werewolf. Vampires and werewolves were creatures that hated each other, not creatures that laid together.
I should have just walked away. I should have justleft her alone. This was wrong. And I knew it. She evidently knew the same knowledge.
She turned and walked away from me. Where was she going? Was she leaving me? If so, I was going to get out of here. I shouldn't have been in werewolf territory alone anyway. Let alone should I have been here associating with one of their kind. And I definately shouldn't have been having the thoughts that I did floating around in my head.
She turned into the stall that she had come out of. Where was she going? I took a step after her, but paused when I wondered if I should, or whether she had just lured in me in for her reinforcements to get ahold of. Should I go to her? Or should I stay put? If I saw her without her furs, how would I feel about that? Did she have a set of clothes back there?
I took another step forward. Did she want me to follow? Did she want me to come back into her hiding place? Maybe she had gotten nervous and left me? What if she was putting on clothes and I stepped back and saw her? What if she never forgave me? Why the hell did I care about whether or not she liked me? She was a bloody werewolf. Haha. Bloody. As if a vampire should be calling anything else bloody.
I took another step. I couldn't leave her along, could I? I just couldn't walk away and say forget it.
My feet carefully stepped over messy bits of hay and straw. Stepping around a few horse brushes and other accessories that had been left behind in the owner's haste to get out of here and away from the very thing that I ventured towards.
I moved around the wall and peeked into the enterance. My eyes searched for her until I came upon her curled up body. Hidden amongst a blanket that had been left behind. I studied her posture for only a few seconds. The way she was slumped over, curled up..
"What is wrong?"
I inquired without a second thought about it.

K a y l a ----------------------------The goose flesh on her arms slowly died down as the blanket slightly warmed her skin. Despite her being werewolf, in her human form… things seem to slightly dim down. Maybe it was just her, but her hearing, sight, and reaction time seemed so much slower. Sighing, she ran her hands down her arms, creating friction to warm them and keep the chill off. Thoughts about him swirled into her head when she did not hear anything. Had he left? Was he going to stalk her like prey? No… no… She did not bother to look back all at once, leaving her forehead rest against her limbs to calm her mind. She took a few breaths, trying to calm herself down and relax. However, it did not seem to help.
She lifted her head back up and let it face the wall. She barely made out the straw being interrupted from its resting state when he moved his way over. Slowly she began to stand; making sure the blanket was wrapped around her. She heard him speak though and she flinched a bit to hearing him a ways behind her. Tension grew on her back as she felt it grow sensitive. It was almost like she had some sixth sense- something would just make her feel a certain way or her skin would prickle or get tingly. Slowly she turned back around to face him, brown hair and eyes that she had in her human form visible to him.
She kept her head and gaze down, feeling embarrassed. ”S-sorry…” she stumbled out, her face and neck heating up. ”I did not expect to meet anybody nor camp out so my clothes are back home.” What was the matter- she was indecent! Duh! Shyly, she looked back up to gaze at his eyes before slowly backing towards the stall wall behind her to rest her back against it. Her posture screamed uncomfortable, but it was her fault so she decided to make up for it. ”However, I can easily talk to you now. My name is Kayla” she spoke softly, smiling politely as she adverted her gaze from his eyes once again.
((Ish crappy… I’s sorry!))
